Re: BrickCan AFOL Newbie - Any tips?

Yes! The schedule has specific times marked for trading, and even a minifig-specific one on Friday! These were originally intended to give people a time and place to fully utilize our "trade bags" but there's no reason not to bring extra stuff you don't need - so even if you don't want to ...

Re: BrickCan AFOL Newbie - Any tips?

Thanks everyone for answering this question so thoroughly! The "BrickCan Intro" is definitely a great place to start, and is followed by our Meet & Greet. My best advice is to always remember that AFOL's are generally a super-friendly and inclusive bunch, so don't be afraid to start a ...

Re: Make A Wish Fairy Tale Build

Hey, I just wanted to add to this - Emily just messaged me on facebook as well, disappointed she didn't know about the last meeting (she asked when it was, and I said last night). How are not-quite-yet-members supposed to know about the meetings, so they can attend them to become real members? Seems...

Yellow Castle for Sale

Hi all, A while back I mentioned I had a yellow castle for sale at some point - some point is now. Ayleen and I built it to see whether or not it was complete, and for the experience - which I highly recommend! I've attached three pictures - the instructions are in excellent condition, the box in re...

I'm sure Chris will be happy to sign them at BrickCan - and Andy if he can make it this year! They were signing them for a bunch of people in Seattle.

The Teddy Bear is a great touch! Love it.

I really like how Technic is getting so much more colour variety than it historically had.

Re: Dimensions at Dollarama

The store downtown near Waterfront had just a few - a couple Gimli's, a couple of the Emmet construction ones, and a few Unikitty. I picked up one Unikitty because I hadn't found any down South. Probably like 10 packs total on the shelf, who knows how much they might have in stock...the stores in Ca...

Re: LEGO House website is live!

The entrance fee for the paid portions is approaching $40! It's kind of a captive audience thing...who's going to go to Billund and then NOT go there, regardless of the price, on their first visit? We're hoping to go to Skærbæk in September...I know previous years have had a Monday tour of the const...

Re: Dimensions at Dollarama

I'll try to check the one on Marine Drive in Marpole this weekend. I picked up about 60 packs at the $0.99 price in the states. Each store had a different selection of ones available - some very cool, some less so. The Jurassic Park one is great, and I got a whole bunch of the Gimli one for the dwar...

Re: Sealed/open box 10030 UCS Star Destroyer

The assortment of greys within the set was not consistent, as it was during the change-over time. My copy is entirely old grey, being bought near the beginning of the production run, but later copies were a mix. I forget if some were 100% new grey, but I believe they were. This made some of the part...

Re: New LEGO Product - BrickHeadz

I wonder if the $40 price tag is the SDCC Exclusive Price, and the actual lineup of them next year will be priced more reasonably.

If this catches the Funko/Pop/Vinyl crowd it could be pretty huge for LEGO as a new segment.

I've been excited since October 7th, 2012 ... Diana, I highly recommend staying at a hotel nearby (See my post in the other BrickCon thread on Hampton versus Maxwell). Of course, this depends on how much you want to see the rest of Seattle, and how much of a party person you want to be! Most are not...

Hi everyone, I had a talk with Steve Witt about the prices (VicLUG and Canadian AFOL's everywhere complain too!) and the sad news is nothing will change in the near future. According to LEGO, the exchange rate is just a part of how products are priced. The US is a much more competitive and hyperacti...
