bn.com 30% off

Post by chump »

BN.com has a coupon code out for 30% off on highest priced item. Enter H4W9V7M at checkout. They do ship to Canada and you do have to pay for shipping (unless you ship to US). Selection isn't the greatest since there was also an online sale that coincided.

They also have a coupon for their Kid's Club which garners you another 30% off coupon. I didn't pull the trigger and they sold out of the Lego Harry Potter: The Burrows. I bought the Prison Tower Rescue for US$43 (includes about $7 of shipping). We'll have to wait and see if I get dinged by Canada Customs. [crosses fingers] It's USPS, not UPS which is notorious for exorbitant brokerage fees.

No ding from Canada Customs. Canada Post delivers and they just leave the boxes at my front/back door if deemed safe. No collection of taxes or extra handling charge (usually $5+tax on heavy parcels).

The sale is on again 30% off one item. The coupon code is A4N4M4V. So if it makes sense to order, if you factor in shipping and possible taxes. Then go for it. I ordered the Ninjago Fire Temple and s/h was $6.49 and taxes were under $5. Total paid on the invoice is $95. Crossing fingers again.

I didn't check what other big sets were available.

Or order it to a US address with free shipping.

If I've done this right, this link will show all the $50+ Lego sets.

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/?store= ... at=1&size=

Yup. 30% off US prices. I shipped here rather than to Point Roberts as I figure gas, handling fees and time would eat up that $6.50 pretty fast. Last two times heading down to Point Roberts I waited 30-45 minutes in lineups.

Sweet ! So normally B&N will ship lego to Canada ? If so that's fantastic specially if they carry the more special items like the train sets. Ordered the Lego Creator Apple House. 2/3 the Canadian price including shipping.

Just got an email- my Fire Temple has been shipped via Canada Post/Brokers Worldwide... total is still $95

Will we 3 all get our Lego on the same day? :)

The only difference would be if Canada Customs decides to ding you. But if past equals present then it may come through without additional cost.

Well if Customs decides to ding me... I'll be ok as long its $17 or less- so the final tally is $112
Fire Temple in Canada is $160 and at $112 Cdn, I'd have paid 30% OFF Retail price and No Tax!
Yup hoping for the best! :D

Last time I ordered from B&N (Feb 8, 2011) I was charged tax as they have a registered Canadian GST number. Look at the receipt enclosed in your shipping box.

For curiousity sake, how much was that order? And that was HST+$5 fee?

I know when I last posted I had bought was the Kingdoms Prison Rescue, that order was only about $60. I'm wondering if the amount had anything to do with it. Or have they just updated their collection methods since I last purchased?

It'll suck, but as RadStar says even adding in HST +$5 we'll still be ahead of the game.

I think some of you are getting confused by the tax.

B&N has a GST number, so when you checkout, you pay 5% GST on your order total. Even though it's being shipped from the States, you shouldn't be dinged with any extra fees when your package crosses the border because you've already paid the Canadian tax.

In other words, Customs won't ding you on a package from B&N because B&N has already collected relevant the Canadian tax on their behalf.

Compare this to a Bricklink order you make from a person in California. You pay order total + shipping. When that items crosses the border, Canada Border Services Agency has the option of making you pay 12% HST (on the reported or invoiced value) + $5 service charge. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not.

I've made 2 purchases from B&N and I did not have to pay any extra taxes when receiving them.

Karnac says........ YES! (crosses fingers that I'm right.)

On another note, it looks like the 30% off coupon no longer works with Lego.

Carnac is sadly mistaken. Ninjago Fire Temple did not arrive this week.

And yes, Carnak also doesn't know how to spell his own name.
