Post by xandria »

Based on a true story.

This is a prelim as I'm figuring things out, but thought some of you might enjoy.

It's one thing to read a cool little lego-comic, but it's another to have actually been there, when the real events happened. I'll never forget Dean's ghostly white face, as it dawned on him what had just occurred ... (he was sooooo dead ...)

Haha pretty funny!

Let me guess - from L-R the characters are:
Rob, Kevin, Dean, and Robin (only because he has a castle-fig torso).

So did Alex's minifig ever turn up?

Thanks! Awww, you'll just to read the story when it's done to find out. Or maybe come to the LEGO meeting on Friday!

I'm still finishing up the comics -- there's 7 days' worth plus a splash page. The bubbles are not kind on my wrists, but, ehn, I'll get there.

Now you've started something....

Post by Dj_Max »

I don't know about the rest of the club, but I know now that I am itching to make my own webcomic.

Yours it's truly great, from what I have seen so far, and I am looking forward to seeing the rest... starting Monday...

I had made own last year evolving around the online game I had devised, but alas, my camera was so crappy, I didn't post it anywhere. I guess I'll pull it out again, and put it online as a starter...

Great work Alex, been wondering what you've been up to... so quiet... not like you! :rotflol:
Cheers!

Of course, I don't want you to think that I am riding your popularity, by all means that's the last thought in my mind.

I would take it more like a compliment that someone wanted to try and recreate a marvel, the same as trying to rebuild someone else's model.

Now I feel confused....
Cheers!

:) I cannot wait to see the rest of this series. And yes, it does make me want to do a comic. But I've felt that way ever since seeing "The Rev's" stuff years ago. Now that I've got a camera that does the job very well, maybe I'll try my hand at it.

You're right about Rob and Kevin. Their figs are perfect. As far as my fig goes, well ... it's good! Bryan recognized me, after all! And who am I to attempt to influence the mind of the author? 8)

Is it monday yet?

I agree about the Rev's stuff, but it hits home when it's someone you know that makes the comic.

Seems closer to home doesn't it?
Cheers!

Marc: Yeah, I've been quiet. I have my fingers in way too many pies. I'm frantically trying to update most of my websites (and I have quite a few). I've been distracted by a new hobby (Manga). Yadda yadda... but the comic was fun. The story came to me in all of five minutes, revised while in the shower and written in one morning. Heeee. *rubs hands devilishly*

Robin: It was fun, but there's so much for me to learn to improve. I know sod all about making comics, so really need to buckle down before the next one. You should have a go! Oh, and sorry about your fig. Help me build one for you on Friday in case I have need of your body again in a future comic. *snicker*

Dean: Oh yes... close to home. *more evil cackling*

Hey, Marc: Despite the camera quality, way to go with the comic. I'm glad you posted a link to it. Harry and Ron... bwahahahaha.

Oh, by the way, how did you create the conversation balloons?

Thnx.

I use Paint Shop Pro 7. It has a tool bar that enables you to place and modify word balloons on any photo.

It creates layers, so you can play around a bit before totally destroying your picture.

I can bring a copy if you want.

Hey, Marc: Naw, it's okay, you don't need to bring a copy. I was just curious. I love Macromedia Fireworks lots, but sometimes it makes me want to panel beat my head against the wall. I got the balloons sort of sussed.

Will you be continuing with your comic at all?

Well, I would have to start with creating the ship... the main bridge, the holosuite, captain's quarters... then maybe I can come up with some sort of actual ship to have also...

But I guess the storyline would probably be a good idea too.

Working on the storyboard as we speak (or as I type, I guess)
Not easy to come up with anything solid right now, but got some ideas floating around.
Cheers!

Wellll... I'm not so keen on the googly eyes on mine

I modded a head for my own sig fig by adjusting the beard on one with better glasses/eyes. See it here:

Ahh well, sorry about that. If you'd like to send me a modified head, I'd be happy to use that in the future.

And actually, as a general shout out to club members: I may use some approximation of your sig fig in my future comics so if you like, you can always give me a picture of your sig fig and I'll hopefully have the components to build it. If you have any modified pieces, please feel free to make one for me and I'll happily use that.

Hey Xandria, I think mine fits well it's a good thing that they don't make different sized bodies, I'd need a larger stomach.?

Now I think i'm going to have to find the parts and make one of those of myself.
