Craigslist ad
Does anyone here know who's ad this is http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/tag/5595787909.html ?
I will ask nicely here that whomever it is to please not use the VLC or Vancouver Lego Club in their ads.
If we see this we will have to flag your ad every time.

Re: Craigslist ad
I would reply to the add asking for a call to discuss making a deal...

Re: Craigslist ad
Just did. Well said I would like to talk about their ad.
Re: Craigslist ad
There's a second one now: http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/tag/5595808064.html
Claims to have the best prices on the internet, but in both cases the lowest Bricklink prices are about half of what this guy wants.

Humm... both links still take me to the posts, but when I try Craigslist's search tool I don't seem to find either.

Re: Craigslist ad
We're assuming it's someone here but I don't think it is. It's just using an association to make the buyer feel comfortable. But I could be wrong. In any case, if it is one of our members they should not be using our direct name in the listing, as if you are representing the VLC. If you must use it, then it would be "a member of the VLC".
Wow, it's like we need a fair play policy for the VLC name!

Re: Craigslist ad
If it continues, we can contact Craigslist and let them know someone is using our name. Do we have the name trademarked? That would make it easier to get Craigslist to take the ad down.

Re: Craigslist ad
We can also do a guerilla PSA listing stating that the VLC does not sell Lego.

Re: Craigslist ad
Given the lack of response from the seller, it's probably safe to now assume it's not someone from the club.
Isn't Craigslist a user patrolled site - in-so-much as inappropriate posts aren't so much managed/removed by staff as they are by other users flagging them as inappropriate?
Given no reply has been received, is there a reason why we wouldn't just start flagging the posts as inappropriate?

Re: Craigslist ad
Seems checking the "prohibited" checkbox only hides the post from view (only for that computer or user).Lettuce wrote:They both still show up for me...AC wrote:The prohibit button worked.
That's not very useful (in this case anyway).
Edit: I just skimmed the CL FAQs and apparently checking the "prohibited" checkbox IS the way to flag something. If enough people flag an item, it get's automatically deleted. So... who's in for marking those two posts as "prohibited"?

Contact the person to meet and serve them with a Cease and Desist
Re: Craigslist ad
It looks like this worked for the first ad (or he sold it) because it's no longer coming up for me. The Medieval Market Village still shows up, and I've flagged now from 3 or 4 different IPs.Kyler wrote:Edit: I just skimmed the CL FAQs and apparently checking the "prohibited" checkbox IS the way to flag something.
